Lyrics
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to
Oh well
Now when I talked to God I knew he'd understand
He said, "Sit by me, and I'll be your guiding hand"
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to
Oh well

Bronze Age wrote:Manowar's Revelation (Death's Angel)
That's actually a good pick. It's directly from the Bible and doesn't even really try to twist it into anything else. It calls blasphemers self-righteous fools, the judgment of God is a vindication, chosen people will be saved and Satan's throne is destroyed. Even the depiction of Christ from the Revelation is there (His hair white as wool - He is the first and last).
Above the wreckage of your
Mortal world I stand
Judgement passed, delivered by his hand
Now, clear the smoke there the ashes stand
A fitting tribute to mortality and man
What was written, foretold in dreams
In visions apocalypse now seen
And all self-righteous fools
Who lived and blasphemed
Drink the wine of his anger
Dine with the Beast
Vindication, he's coming on the clouds
See his Angels hear their trumpets sound
The day of anger
When the stars fall from the sky
The moon turns red
The sun turns black as night
Know the end is coming, heed this sign
By the morning star the four Horsemen ride
Revelation, the chosen saved
Earth be cleansed in a blaze
Armageddon, the first trumpet blows
Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne
His hair as white as wool
His eyes like burning flame
He is the first and last
He brings the seven plagues
Seven stars of seven cities in his hand
He holds the keys of death
For the underworld and man
Know the end is coming, heed this sign
By the morning star the four Horsemen ride
Revelation, the chosen saved
Earth be cleansed in a blaze
Armageddon, the first trumpet blows
Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne
Revelation, the chosen saved
Earth be cleansed in a blaze
Armageddon, the first trumpet blows
Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne
Revelation, the chosen saved
Earth be cleansed in a blaze
Armageddon, the first trumpet blows
Hail and fire on Satan's throne
Revelation

I would also almost say Manowar's Kingdom Come which, with a bit of change in the lyrics, would sound like a religious praise song. Obviously the way the lyrics now are they serve more the ego than God. If you would take away the line "be your own disciple" or change it a bit the whole song would have a whole different meaning. It's pretty much only that one single line that gives the whole song a context that makes it clear it's about praising the power of self instead of God.
Well, there's also the "Our kingdom will come" line. It's also in the form of "Your kingdom will come" which with the "be your own disciple" context means that the listener's kingdom will come. But if the song would lose the "be your own disciple line" and change both "Our kingdom will come" lines to "Your kingdom will come" that also appears twice you could pretty much sing that song in a church.
See the white light
The light within
Be your own disciple
Fan the sparks of will
For all of us waiting
Our kingdom has come
Rays of power shining
Rays of magic fall
On the golden voice that speaks within us all
For all of us waiting
Your kingdom will come
Kingdom Come
Feel the white light
The light within
Yea it burns a fire that drives a man to win
For all of us waiting
Your kingdom will come
Kingdom Come
Words of power
Calling to us all
Holding us together while other kingdoms fall
No longer waiting
Our kingdom has come
Kingdom Come
Kingdom coming
Another kingdom falls
The rightful are waiting
But all are not rightful
Wait and receive the weight of the fall
Kingdom Come

High on talent. High on cheese. I bet they're big in Turkey.StevenCressler wrote:I'm not saying they're bad. Just that they're cheesy. Just a pun off someone using the term Manowar outside of referencing the band, which is what I immediately think of when hearing that word lol.Bronze Age wrote:Hey Steven. Trumpets cry warnings from heaven
"The virgin dressed with the sun
With the moon on her feet
On her head a garland of twelve stars
Then, being with a child she cries
for the birth of a King" - Apocalypse 12:1
War Horns the sign of the times
Break through the silent cries
Petrified, I'm facing the rapture
Choking on tears, the prophecy fulfills
The angels come announcing the gathering
The wages of sin are for all who live to see
War Horns the sign of the times
Break through the silent cries
Visions from prophets unveiled
All burns in the lake of fire
"Fire will be raining from the sky
The sun will be darkened
The moon will not give its light
The stars will fall
And the powers of heaven are shaken
That's when the Son of Man
Will arise in the clouds" - Matthew 24-29
War Horns the sign of the times
Break through our silent cries
Visions from prophets unveil
All burns in the lake of fire

Visions from above
Father's son on high
Sharing all his love
He's the one to make you fly
Christ the redeemer - an icon for mankind
Atop the Corcovado mountain sky
Both his arms are open wide
Inviting you to see the light
Open-heartedness - old virtues come alive
There is magic in the air
Enter on a higher sphere
Existential interlink between yourself and holy god
Turn around and look through my eyes
You may find the world's archetype
Distinct viewpoint of the world
Longing for a rest in peace
Moses brought the ten commandments to be learned
Watch me, touch me now - I'm error-free, no doubt
You're gonna see the world through different eyes
Different eyes are gonna change the world - you just have to
Turn around and look through my eyes
You may find the world's archetype - the holy ghost
Corco - Corcovado, Corco - Corcovado
Corco - Corcovado, Corco - Corcovado
Visions from above
Father's son on high
Sharing all his love
Standing there with open arms
Christ the redeemer - icon for mankind
Atop the Corcovado mountain sky
Christ the redeemer - monument of hope, so high
Can you feel the magic high and low
Watch me, touch me now - I'm error-free, there can be no doubt
You're gonna see the world through different eyes
Different eyes are gonna change the world
Turn around and look through my eyes
You may find the world's archetype - the icon of God

I told you once but I will say it again
When you live the flesh it's the beginning of the end
It will take you in, it will spit you out
Behold the flesh and the power it holds
Passion is a poison laced with pleasure bitter sweet
One of many faces that hides deep beneath
It will take you in, it will spit you out
Behold the flesh and the power it holds

Soulfly has a lot of songs with a Christian message(if you can get past the profanity). One thing that bothers me is they have a bunch, but absolutely try to show they "aren't" cause they don't want "brutal" metal fans to hate them. Just stand behind your lyrics.TZ75 wrote:This is a song about God’s judgment.
Flyhigh is another one they have with a Christian message. (again profanity warning).

Keeper of the Seven Keys | 13:38 | Hide lyrics | |
Make the people hold each other's hands and fill their hearts with truth You made up your mind so do as divined Put on your armor, ragged after fights Hold up your sword, you're leaving the light Make yourself ready for the lords of the dark They'll watch your way, so be cautious, quiet and hark You hear them whispering in the crowns of the trees You're whirling 'round but your eyes don't agree Will'o' the wisps misguiding your path You can't throw a curse without taking their wrath Watch out for the seas of hatred and sin Or all us people forget what we've been Our only hope's your victory Kill that Satan who won't let us be kill Our only hope's your victory Kill that Satan who won't let us be kill You're the Keeper of the Seven Keys That lock up the seven seas And the Seer of Visions said before he went blind Hide them from demons and rescue mankind Or the world we're all in will soon be sold To the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold To the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold You can feel cold sweat running down your neck And the dwarfs of falseness throw mud at your back Guided by spells from the old Seer's hand You're suffering pain, only steel can stand Stay well on your way and follow the sign Fulfull your own promise and do what's divined The seven seas are far away Placed in the valley of dust heat and sway The seven seas are far away Placed in the valley of dust heat and sway You're the Keeper of the Seven Keys That lock up the seven seas And the Seer of Visions said before he went blind Hide them from demons and rescue mankind Or the world we're all in will soon be sold To the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold To the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold "Throw the first key into the sea of hate" Throw the second key into the sea of fear Throw the third key into the sea of senselessness and make the people hold each other's hands The fourth key belongs into the sea of greed and the fifth into the sea of ignorance Disease, disease, disease my friend for this whole world's in devil's hand Disease, disease, disease my friend throw the key or you may die Disease, disease, disease my friend for this whole world's in devil's hand Disease, disease, disease my friend throw the key or you may die On a mound at the shore of the last sea, he is sitting, fixing your sight With his high iron voice causing sickness, he is playing you out with delight "Man who do you just think you are? A silly bum with seven stars Don't throw the key or you will see dimensions cruel as they can be" Don't let him suck off your power, throw the key, throw the key, throw the key An earthquake, squirting fire, bursting ground Satan's screaming and earth swallowing him away You're the Keeper of the Seven Keys You locked up the seven seas And the Seer of Visions can now rest in peace There ain't no more demons and no more disease And mankind, live up, you're free again Yes the tyrant is dead, he is gone, overthrown You have given our souls back to light |

The lyrics even mention "J.C."
That's pretty much as far a secular band can go to be blatantly Christian without ruffling any feathers.
Give me two strong arms to fight my enemies
Give me two strong eyes to see the truth
Give me two strong legs I think I have to run
And fill my heart will faith that I won't lose
I don't want to lose
Give me one real love that I don't freeze out there
Make me feel your presence in the night
Give me one strong heart that tells me when I lie
And take my soul so I won't have to hide
I don't want to hide
It's so cold deep down here
I know we had to fall
Souls are dying everywhere
But whatever I do I believe
There'll be no reason to live
Without you giving me light
There is so much that you give
Your love is shining so bright
I believe
I want to love but I always hate
I want to give but I always take
Want you to laugh but I make you cry
No I won't change until I die
It's so much easier said than done
I know I can't just always run
Got so much anger inside of me
I understand but I think I see what I'm not
I know it's true what J.C. said
I got it all clear in my head
Seems we were born to be unfair
I am a sinner that's starting to dare to believe
Give me your hand until the end
And I will walk into the promised land
I don't deserve anything you do
But I can't stop loving you
No more lies, no false religions
No more whys and wrong God missions
No shiny T.V. priests begging for cash
No more wars that no God's never asked for
There's a way back out of here
One day we're going home
Tell everyone who wants to hear
Whatever you do:
Do believe, I believe, we believe, believe oh!

Bush-era Anthrax is very atheistic. (Belladonna era is in no way Christian, but it’s less aggressively atheistic).Black Rider wrote:Except it literally says his only faith is in a person.

While Jesus Saves was meant to be sarcastic by Kerry and Jeff, I think Silent Scream was written by Tom (a Catholic) and is actually anti-abortion.
