What are you listening to right now? (II)
Nice! Personally, I could never get too into GROMS though it seems most everyone else just totally loves 'em. However, Sawol's latest album really struck a chord with me and is definitely one of my favorites from 2019. Enjoy!

Stumbled across a new band EchoSoul
From a Facebook post:
We have some progressive metal for you. I can honestly say that as a Christian and the songwriter, I chose not to label our band Christian but it is something anyone in a family can listen to. After hearing the neat discussion, I will tell you why I didn’t label us. It may run long
There is a stigma with a lot of Christian bands to not be competitive enough or talented enough in secular metal. I’ve heard that criticism. But the biggest issue is a lot of fans into darker images and type of style will never give a Christian band the time a day.
So with this project, I chose to write on life topics like I always have, every song is clean and probably relatable to Christian fans and even the harshest Athiest on the life experiences perhaps.
What I think will matter most is how we represent the life of Christianity in what we do. Perhaps when someone watching may step in and ask “you seem to have something different” what is it. It opens up opportunity to be a light in the darkness. There will plenty of opportunities for gospel.
I even have some secular artist that played with me on this album, but the music itself I think came out well and well represented of my standards. I had Tim “Ripper” Owens singing on a couple tracks. He never professed himself as a Christian, or is he? Some may never know, but he’s certainly a great talent for what I needed and a great guy.
Now you won’t have to look far in our music to see the Spirit in the lyrics and content,it’s there. It’s juts not slapping the general fan on the head.
We have a 11 minute song entitled “Hangman (A Roman and the Cross)”. Its probably are hardest and maybe most slamming tune, kind of our own “Rythme of Ancient Mariner”track. Now it’s from the perspective of the one who pierced Jesus and an unbelievers eyes, but it has a unique turn on how it changed him. Hoping that it will spark a study or a doubter to maybe look up the passages.
I aimed us that direction on purpose. No I did not write any worship songs per say on this album. I did for a separate project, which will have a different title. But it’s very much Progressive Metal, maybe a touch of Power.
Hope you give it a chance. We have two of the singles up now on the Facebook page. Melody of Misery which is about the battle of suicide, probably our softest and radio friendly song. Then “Where Echoes Go” which is inspired by the Russel Crow quote from the beginning of gladiator, “what we do in lives echoes into eternity” full album lands next month.
Be blessed

^Interesting find! I haven't heard of them before. I agree, still pretty rough but definitely shows some promise. It's a bit experimental which I dig too. Thanks!

No doubt!
Check out K-Octave too. Reminds me of Ripper Owens.

Not much. I'll check it out at some point. I think it has the same guitarist & vocalist as K-Octave.

Riot - Unleash The Fire
Got inspired after seeing that their lead singer went on that show The Voice and killed it with a Journey song.
