New Sáwol Song: Crossroads

Finnish melodic death metallers have released a new song from their upcoming album and it's good!  The song is called Crossroads and here's what the band had to say about it:

Kind of reminded me a bit of Ethereal Scourge from their Judgement and Restoration album.

Melodic and thoughtful, heavy, but slow and plodding. I think I will like this new Sawol a lot

^Yeah I really like it a lot...  They're going in an interesting musical direction with not-so-metal instrumentation but maintaining the death metal vocals.  It's good!

They just posted some details for the upcoming album!  I'm digging the track titles and while the album artwork isn't too creative, it's good too IMO.  I'm looking forward to hearing more and will definitely be ordering it as soon as possible.  Hopefully we'll get some US distribution too.

I've gotta say this is one of the most interesting and exciting turns of sound I've heard on any album ever! 

I enjoyed their debut album but it only had sparks of brilliance. When Kerrick posted the clips above at first I was a bit unsure. It certainly wasn't traditional doom death like the debut. The death growls over the new style seemed to clash. The songs had an almost rock sound to them, even post rock in its atmosphere. Yet, I was intrigued and captivated by it anyway. By the time "The Furnace Is Burning Hot" had been posted I was off to place my order.

Well, having this come in the mail yesterday I'm thrilled by this release! It's incredibly unique, powerful, catchy, diverse with absolutely outstanding production! I'm frankly amazed at what I'm hearing on this! It's so different from anything I've ever heard coming out of the doom/death genre and I'm thankful for that. The absolute surprise of the album is the Lemmy/Motorhead vibe in Dark Horizons. For as many things that came out of nowhere on this album I never expected that. So cool. I hope they continue on, holding to the death metal vocals, but expanding on this super creative sound! Definitely an album of the year contender.

^I totally agree.  One of the best of 2019 for sure.  There's so little doom/death in the Christian scene that part of me was a bit bummed when they shifted their style.  But any disappointment quickly dissipated as soon as they started releasing the singles.  This album totally blew me away.  It really is quite a unique album and I love how they've evolved their sound.  Stellar stuff!  I'm surprised they haven't caused more of a stir.

Sounds very nice! Hopefully a CD or vinyl becomes available with distro.
