Re: Recently Watched Movies
I finally got around to watching the Thing movie from 2011. I've seen the first one way back, but I've been wanting to watch this one for quite some time. I quite enjoyed it, actually. And I preferred the ending in this one to the 80s one.

My sister and I listened to the audio tape of that as kids all the time! I don't think I've ever actually seen the movie, but we loved listening to it haha.

That's a little odd.
I had a friend in junior high who had the soundtrack for the Flash Gordon movie (from 1980) and it was the entire audio track on like a two record set. We used to listen to it when I would spend the night on occasional weekends. It was kind of strange, but fun.

Yes, the 1980s movie. I encourage you to watch it. It's on Disney+. You will find a lot of Peter Jackson inspiration in that movie.

Species (1995)
I never saw any of these movies. It was on when I flipped to Showtime in the hotel.
Sci-Fi Horror movies always crack me up even though it was probably scary in it's day.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Not aware of this, I love that movie and would like to get my hands on it. Was it an official release or just some kind of promo? I have the soundtrack as a single LP.Staybrite wrote:Kerrick wrote:My sister and I listened to the audio tape of that as kids all the time! I have no clue if it was official or not. I kind of doubt it was a bootleg as we were kind of young to get anything like that (but you never know). I'll try to remember to ask him if he still has it.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Took me back in time and watched a movie I haven't seen in over 30 years:
It's on Amazon Prime. After watching, I wanted to read some trivia about it.
Joe Dante did not get to complete this film. He needed do do some more work on it but the studio insisted he release it.
Their school is named Charles Jones Middle School. This is what got me searching for trivia because I thought of cartoonist Chuck Jones and it is indeed named after him.
There are several references in the film to Gremlins.
The first film co-produced with a major studio by Industrial Light & Magic
The movie at the drive-in is called "Starkiller" which is a tribute to Lucas and "Luke Starkiller"
This film began a rivalry between Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix which lasted until River's death. Ethan has said in interviews that he felt bad about it after River's death and stated it was all because he was jealous of River getting parts that he (Ethan) auditioned for.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Last week I watched "The Girl With All The Gifts".
A very interesting take on zombie horror. No nudity, which is good. They call them "hungrys" in this movie, and they're not the slow, stumbling zombie types either - they run at a dead sprint. Noise and smell sensitive, so people are using this cream and being quiet to avoid detection. Not a zombie virus, but a fungus, and there's "a final form" for these hungrys, which is strange and interesting.
The story twists come from the kids. A pregnant woman that's infected, gives birth to a kid who's zombie, but they're "sentient". Most can't control themselves when they smell people, except this girl. (who still can't control herself, but she has enough care and wits to separate herself and warn people when she's hungry)
Good movie. Would watch again later.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
American Gospel: Christ Crucified. It's the usual big guns vs. the "deconstructionists" and apostates. Alaistar Begg, Paul Washer, RC Sproul (RIP), and a few other cool dudes vs. Bart Campolo, Tony Jones, Richard Rohr, Dickie Dawkins, Rob Bell, and WP Young. I kid you not, every stinking "argument" the mockers brought out was a logical fallacy. Every. Stinking. Time.

We watched Godzilla: King of the Monsters last night with the whole family. Most of the time we were just laughing at how bad this movie was.
