Thinking about some users who disappeared
Was wondering where some of the users are who haven't been on in a long time. Scott Waters (Ultmetal) hasn't logged on in almost 3 years and he rarely posts at his own forum (I know he does a lot of YouTube videos). Arttie isn't here very much either. Anyone remember Naomi? She had the name Marshmallows. I believe she lived in Scotland and hasn't been on (don't even know if she still has a user name). Xenon Lion is another that has vanished as has Metal15. Unworthy is another one who was a long time poster who disappeared. Cliffy? Gipperman? Mr. Lynch (Richard Lynch of Saint)? Garrison4JC? Nuclearwoods? Static? Deepfriar? Peter Who Was Vaak? Hotdogs & Mustard? (Haha that one's a joke). Wasn't there an Undead Toaster?
Just wondering about some old friends.

Scott is super busy with his youtube and now his own label. Honestly, forums like this are dying.

Isnt Gipperman Michael Sweet of Stryper? From what i've read, he's currently at work on the new Stryper album.

LOL.
Yeah we've seen some really neat people come and go through here. Some of them are on Facebook so I still see updates from them from time to time. Xenon Lion pokes her head into CHM occasionally. I do miss [most of...] those folks you mentioned.

Propably. Everything is in social media that is fastly fragmenting. I have several social media accounts, but I use them rarely. I check Facebook and Instagram daily, but don´t say much there.
My problem with social media is that you just cannot have good conversation there. It is ego boosting platform where you show up and people are "liking" your posts. But going in depth with issue, that doesn´t happen there.
In that sense these old fashioned forums are better and actually much more social tha "social media".

HeavyLighter, I agree though a FB group is better.

Re: Thinking about some users who disappeared
I prefer forums. I have been on forums for YEARS (and I am talking since the mid 80's with the good ole Commodore 64). I don't do FB, Twitter or any of that stuff. Forums are my outlet. In the early 90's I did e-mail groups (was on a list for Styx and it was kind of like a forum but everything came in an e-mail). But I have to agree the format is dying out. I am on several forums and most of them are not as busy as they were 10-15 years ago with the exception of the Steve Hoffman forums which have upwards of thousands of users on at once. And if you post in the music forum there if no one replies it is buried on page 5 within 15 minutes. Very busy and active site I love it over there (a music/audiophile forum with some movie discussion as well). Steve Hoffman is an audio mastering expert who has worked on just about every artist you can think of. It's a good place to go whenever you have questions about audio equipment or music in general.

Re: Thinking about some users who disappeared
Not only do I miss Cliffy hanging around here, whatever happened to him doing all the remastering for all the most awesome reissues? For a while, you couldn't get a reissue that was remastered without his name being on it. Maybe I will ask him on Facebook.
Re: Thinking about some users who disappeared
Strypergate killed Cliffy's remasters.
Gandalf the White and Guilty/Forgiven are two I miss around. Driven and Free Range Believer I don't see much anymore either.
Music_me was good to have around too (another joke!).

Guilty/Forgiven still posts at CHM. He can also be easily found on Facebook. Driven also posts there some.
Re: Thinking about some users who disappeared
Didnt Candlemass used to post here? I still see him on Heart of Metal but he's MIA here.

Didn't MS threaten Cliffy with legal action over making available his remastered versions of Stryper albums, even though it was only via PM.HeavyLighter wrote:eatbugs wrote:Strypergate killed Cliffy's remasters.

I think he also got pissed because Cliffy offered an alternate track listing for Second Coming. Long time ago and my memory ain't that great.

Someone noticed me...lol...though i didn't post alot as freerangebeliever after i changed the name from Dwellceller which i had way back.
To be honest i'm not on the net as much anymore...I've gotten pretty sick of the internet in general and am using it less and less as i get older. I would actually love it if the net was shut down for a few months so the whole world could have a break. I'm tired of it and long for a simpler time (the 80s..lol)
I sometimes read stuff on here, but haven't had the energy to post anything for a long time (til now).
I've also been through some very serious trials in the last couple years and the net has lost my interest quite a bit due to this reason. I am seeking more human contact and enjoy the non net life more these days.

Yeah, face-to-face friends will always trump web forum friends. Problem is, no one I know likes Christian metal.
I'll also pray for you.

That was the first appearance of The Gipperman (Michael Sweet) when he found out Cliffy was remastering (an out of print) a Stryper album. He wasn't happy about it but stuck around for a while and posted here. After that Cliffy's remasters were far and few between but he' still around.
If you don't know Cliffy he was/is in the Huntingtons. He is the one here asking where the pool is.

Definitely was! I wish he'd do another MLR album. I loved those.

We should hit him up for more MLR.
