Mortification's Triumph of Mercy
So lately I have been playing Triumph of Mercy over and over. I know it's not one of Mortification's more popular releases, and it's not talked about much, but what are your opinions on this, their 10th album? I just can't get enough of it for some reason.

Re: Mortification's Triumph of Mercy
It's my favorite post-Jayson Sherlock album. I love the song Influence and the ones that deal with his cancer. Lyrically there is more depth/personal meaning than other Mort releases.
My guess is that it's overlooked a lot because it was too recently post-death metal and many fans were not over the style switch. The production is also demo-ish to my ears.

I haven't listened to it for a while, but it's on my top 3 albums by them. The other two are Post Momentary Affliction and Scrolls Of The Megilloth.
Especially in this album Steve Rowe went very personal with the lyrics, taking you to the journey to hear about his recovery from leukemia. Very tough topic. Yet mr. Rowe is always pointing to Christ with his lyrics, and that's pretty much the case here. Through this album we hear about lot's of miracles during the recovery process. Think about it... He was given only one percent chance to survive and he survived.
I guess it's time for me to listen to this album again

Definitely one of my top Morti albums, I listened to it a lot when I got into their more middle-era releases like Hammer Of God, The Silver Cord Is Severed, and this release.
The honesty in these lyrics, is unrivaled by any album, and I think he still had his death growl vocal style really down.

It's good but i'd like it better if it had production like Envision Evangeline.

IMO the mix is pretty inconsistent, especially where kick drums are concerned. The original sounded impossibly emasculated in the low end throughout; the remaster corrected the problem to a certain extent, but the audibility of the kicks from song to song is still all over the place. I like the material itself, though!
