Thieves & Liars

I brought up this band a couple years ago after first hearing them on Pandora, but I just recently finally picked up their first album and American Rock N' Roll. The second album is decent, and I'm sure I'll get into it. But holy freaking cow is their first album (When Dreams Become Reality) good!!




Betrayed By Blood is a killer track. And I love the Pink Floyd influences on the slower tracks. The album is also drenched in great guitar solo work.

Yeah, I love that album. Well-executed concept and great songs even if a bit derrivative of 70s rock bands. I just wish I knew what happened to the band! They didn't get much attention unfortunately.

I actually like the second album better. The first has some amazing material but is a little too bloated for me to play all the way through. The 2nd has less merit but it's the best to just crank in the summer.

Joey is in Hell or Highwater now, a secular rock band. Nowhere near as good and the lyrics aren't anything worth listening to.

I loved that 2nd album as well.  Huge guitars and great hooks.  What wasn't to love?

I wish they had stuck around and done another album.

Count me in as a fan of both of their albums.  Great band, I wish they would get back together and create more music.

Perhaps that's the problem why they didn't do well? I discovered them on Pandora, but I wonder if they flew under the radar escaping the notice of a lot of people?

Corey was in No Innocent Victim with Jason Dunn, the owner of Facedwon. That's why they were on the label. Still probably not the best decision. Though the packaging and production where high class, nobody expects Facedown to put this kind of material out. Easily one of the most odd Facedown bands ever.

Great band. I was disappointed that they broke up soon. I personally preferred the more straightforward approach on American Rock N' Roll, but there was a lot of quality on When Dreams Become Reality too. I've also wondered in hindsight whether being such an odd fit for Facedown hindered any exposure they might have otherwise been able to gain.

I have a copy in the basement where I work out and a copy in the car, so I listen to it fairly often.
