Retrowave and Chip-tune
Anyone like Retrowave style electronic music? Also Chip-tune?
Retrowave is like the synth music in 80s films, more recently the soundtrack to Stranger Things would be a good example.
Chip-tune is basically NES/SNES style music.

I like some of it. I know John Carpenter released an album that sounds like 80's music. The Lost Theme albums are pretty cool. They sound like soundtrack themes but aren't. And he even tours and plays his stuff. This one is pretty cool to see with the musicians.

This one reminds me of something that would have been on the Escape From New York soundtrack

And I have this one on my want list. The whole series of Retro Groove sounds like 80's music.

Re: Retrowave and Chip-tune
I forgot John Carpenter wrote the themes to his movies. I also didn't know that he had a band too! I'll see if I can find him on Spotify.
Re: Retrowave and Chip-tune
I like this group. They have a slight metallic lean, but also sound like a game soundtrack. This is Chip-tune.
Re: Retrowave and Chip-tune
My first computer was a Commodore C64 - so I do like some chip tune sounds, but I somehow can't listen to it for hours without playing the game.
I love some remakes of old game soundtracks in metal style or with classical orchestration.
The remakes of Chris Hülsbeck's Turrican soundtracks are great - and the renditions of the Giana Sisters soundtrack by the SID metal band Machinae Supremacy: Nostalgia + metal =

I know this is only a teaser, but I like this artist a lot. I have 2 albums by him.
