Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band

Post by alldatndensum on Mon Jul 25, 2016 1:49 pm

How about a little blues rock for you?  I've got a little taste of what you can expect on my new album!  I'm putting Mission Of One on hiatus and going in a different musical direction for a while.  The new blues album is done playing my own homemade cigar box guitars.  I wanted to be able to show the world that these instruments may be rootsy but they are not toys.  They are serious rustic styled instruments that are only as limited as the imagination of the player.

So, if you want to hear something that has that vibe of Glenn Kaiser Band, ZZ Top, Samantha Fish, etc., then head to either my Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/dbarebonesband/

Be sure to like or fan the pages and stay tuned for the release of the debut album "When Your Time Comes" by Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band!!!

Very well done, certainly some of your best recording yet.  Looking forward to the album.

Well done. "Punch In The Face" has a bit of a country vibe to it as well as the blues influence.

I get that a bit with the riff during the verses.  However, if I cranked the distortion up, that's an 80's hair metal song as well.  Much of modern country has been copied straight from the playbooks of the 80's with many producers moving from rock to country (Mutt Lange for example).  The walking style bass during the chorus would also give it that feeling, but that style of playing is also a staple in Chicago, Memphis, and Texas style boogie & blues.  So, you are correct in how you label it.

There is quite a bit more variety on this album.  It isn't all 12 bar blues.  Some of the songs get dark sounding.  There is a worship song in the vein made popular by Third Day.  There is a little rockabilly here as well.  I wanted the album to flow but each song still have a different vibe even when doing straightforward blues.  I think I achieved that.  Also, I've always wanted my albums to have a live feeling without being an actual live album.  This album is just missing the crowd noise!  That's actually funny, though, as none of this was performed live.  It just feels that way.  I multi-tracked everything and yet still sound like I am playing this live.

I can't wait to get the album out!  I think people are going to like this, and I am already planning more releases.  I have enough written for another full length and almost enough for an EP.  Let's see where God takes me with this.

I've been receiving some good feedback so far.  I've been told that I have achieved a sound far better than many albums coming out today with much larger budgets.  I've been told that many of these songs could have been done by Glenn Kaiser Band.  I've also had my voice complimented which is something that rarely happened with Mission Of One.  I never felt I really had a great metal voice.  I could be myself with this and sing gritty or sing clean, so I used both.  I feel like I was more true to myself as a musician just making music that didn't have to sound like anyone else.  Just create for the fun of it.

I would love to do a high quality lyric video.  Anyone know someone who does those at a decent price?

I am in contact with a couple of people about getting a lyric video done.

Also, I am contacting some different web based radio programs about airplay.  I want to get this out there as it blows anything I've done as Mission Of One out of the water.

Thanks!  I've been checking Fiver so far, but mostly have gotten people that don't speak English very well.  I am sure they would do good work, but I have trouble understanding what they are trying to say to me.  Its ENGRISH!!!  LOL

I just finished downloading my first lyric video for this album.  It should be pretty cool.  At least I hope it is!

I am uploading files today to have CDs manufactured.  If this goes well, I will then get CD Baby to be my primary sales site.  They also can take care of all digital retail sites like iTunes and Amazon MP3.  They can also submit this to streaming and even Sirus/XM for me.  Lastly, if I do the CD Baby Pro program, they will license me to BMI or ASCAP for songwriter's royalties and licensing as well.

If all this goes according to plan, I will have the CD available this month.

The music is already being compared to ZZ Top, Glenn Kaiser Band, Stevie & The Saints, Georgia Satellites, etc.

Right now, I am just waiting for my CDs to ship so that I can get them to CD Baby.  I may just let them handle all of my sales to my 12 worldwide fans.
