I used to love that movie when I was a kid haha.  The new series looks pretty good but I'm concerned that they're going to way over-sexualize everything and make it another HBO soft-core porno...

I had not seen it in years too. I was not aware of the new series until last week. Not sure if I will look at it. BUT....I did just watch the lesser known sequel called
Futureworld. If you like Westworld, then you will love Futureworld. I hope they both get remade. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074559/?ref_=tt_rec_tti

I watched it because I'm sick and tired of people saying "Al Gore is wrong" or "Climate change is stupid" or "Global warming sucks", and not being able to back up their claims. I agree on all accounts, but there is a surprising lack of Biblical response to global warming and if I'm going to keep standing up against it, I needed to watch it for myself so I know exactly what Gore and others are saying.

For my friends that oppose it, I ask if they've actually seen it and no one has answered "Yes" yet!

Original or remake?  The original is pretty good, the remake quite terrible.  Too bad the director (of the original, who in more recent years made a sequel of sorts) really hates Christianity...

Haha I saw the remake in theaters for free [my friend worked at the theaters] and it still wasn't worth the cost...

I enjoyed both. Two completely different movies. The new one should probably be entitled something different. I dare say the new one just might be one of the best modern day westerners.

I'll watch it, but when it comes out on video.

Regarding the original, which I've seen 3 times now in my life, did you know that Judah Ben-Hur and Messala are homosexuals? Fortunately, they didn't overtly state that in the film, nor did Charlton Heston know it, but this is what Gore Vidal had in mind with those two characters. That they were former "lovers" and that Messala was still "in love" with Ben-Hur.

Last night I watched the first third of Wagner starring Richard Burton.

All I can say is WOW. I love the dude's music, one of my favorite composers, but man, he was a jerk. A complete monster. He loved no one but himself and money. He treated his wife and friends like dirt, and saw them as nothing more than stepping stones to help him get where he needed to get in life.

Definitely looking forward to watching the rest.
