What is one album..........
What is one album from the past five years, that in your mind, you see becoming a "classic"?
Like which recent album(s) rank up with the all time classics? (to you)
And you see yourself listening to 10 years from now
For example No More Hell To Pay or Fallen those are new and to most people they rank up with To Hell With The Devil and Soldiers Under Command
So what is a "classic" release to you from recent years?

Skald In Veum - 1260 Days was an instant classic for me. There was a lot of hype and not everyone agrees with me in the Christian black metal community, but somehow that release met all my expectations. There's just something about the music composition, production, and black metal groove/melody; it's just, perfect.

I just realized you said album and 1260 Days is an EP... oh well. Half the black metal releases are EP's. Lol!

Most of the Saint releases and Stryper's latest albums are the first to pop into my mind.

I dont think I can pick one, for me Christian Metal died when Deliverance first broke up (after Camelot) since then for me it all went downhill.

↑ I kind of feel the same way. (not because of a band breaking up, but because there are secular releases so much better)
I can think of a handful of future classics in the secular scene, and while there's some really decent Christian releases - nothing sits in the status of "classic in 10 years" to me.

Tough one... I'd say Immortal from For Today is something I'll be listening to 10+ years from now. Maybe the debut from Wovenwar, I really like that album.

Saving Grace "The Urgency" i listen to that one quite often, I can see it being a frequent player even ten years out. Im sure i have a lot more than that one though, it just came to mind first
Re: What is one album..........
Vardoger - Ghost Notes is the first that comes to my mind. Wow what a fantastic album!

EPs are fine I myself know a couple EPs that could be way up there for meDeepfriar wrote:I just realized you said album and 1260 Days is an EP... oh well. Half the black metal releases are EP's. Lol!
Both those albums are fantastic, if I had to choose one from For Today it would either be Portraits or Breaker, those are both in my top 20 albums of all time, Wovenwar's release is very unique and for sure a great releaseFearless For The King wrote:Tough one... Saving Grace has always released really solid albumsMachine Fish wrote:Saving Grace "The Urgency" i listen to that one quite often, I can see it being a frequent player even ten years out. Im sure i have a lot more than that one though, it just came to mind first
Many albums I own I see myself listening to 10 years from now, but in the "classics" section I would put either The Showdown's Temptation Come My Way or Haste The Day's Coward
Both albums have flawless songs, I never skip a song when I listen to either album, all the songs contain epic song writing musically, and what Temptation lacks lyrically is made up with lyrical hooks. Haste The Day's lyrics have had a huge impact on my life.
The reason I see myself loving these albums impartially is the memories and people associated around them, Temptation is one my "childhood" memory type albums, and Haste The Day breaking up in 2011 was a major disappointment, so them reuniting was a huge surprise

Great reasons HCxC. I feel the same about Whitecross, I grew up with a cassette by them. They are the reason I love rock and metal with such a passion.

Nice call with the Teramaze, Juice.
I would think at least one of the last two Theocracy albums would stick. For me, I would say Mirror of Souls. Matt really hit on something with Laying the Demon to Rest. I still hit the volume every time it comes on.

Awesome choice!!!
I love Phinehas one of the most underrated modern bands, thats a impossible choice for me between this album and The Last Word Is Yours To Speak

Celestial Completion by Becoming The Archetype
much like Stop The Bleeding, didn't care for it when I first listened but it grew on me and now I consider this record to an epic.
released 29 March 2011. whew, just made the cutoff!

Re: What is one album..........
Depends on the style of music. Younger fans (yes, I'm stereotyping, yes I'm "old" but like it too) will look back on Facedown Records the way old guys like me look back on Intense Records. For me pretty much anything on Ulterium Records is becoming a "must-buy."
Of course the last two Stryper albums stand up to anything else they have ever done.
I'll also throw in Blood Thirsty - Sanguine River Absolution if it becomes well known enough even within Christian death/black metal circles to become a classic. Some of you know FAR more about that than me.

A top-notch latter career effort from an already legendary band. Not much more needs to be said.

I'm late here.
Definitely either Dissimulation or Legacy from Hope for the Dying. One has already stood up over a couple of years, the other is new but spectacular, and I can't get enough of either.
Didn't realize that Vardoger actually has a new one out. I suppose I'll have to check on that!
Surprised to see such a level of love for Ghost Thief. I thought it was a fine album, no doubt, but I'm surprised that it stuck out so much for others.
