2016 is apparently going to be far better than 2015

Post by Thiago-Brazil on Wed Feb 17, 2016 7:57 pm

We are in February and here is what I have great expectations for:

- New Sacred Warrior album
- New Mass album
- Leviticus remaster box set
- Recon - BEL rerelease

And I still have some expectations for a new Temple of Blood album.

What else have been announced and you are looking forward to?

Tourniquet? Although there remains a big question mark over that one with a new vocalist coming on board. That and if it will be any better than Antiseptic.

That's a good one. I totally forgot that Ted has announced a brand Tourniquet album for 2016.

2016 may be the best year for Christian metal ever.. I think I counted at least half a dozen "Must get" albums on my list, and another 12-18 that I will absolutely look forward to.

Theocracy
War of Ages
Fit for a King
Hope for the Dying
MATSOD
Living Sacrifice

Let's see if the thesis in the topic title is correct.

Albums I have/want from 2015: Angra, Blind Guardian, Cain's Offering, Dark Moor, Diviner, Enzo & the Glory Ensemble, Gloriam Dei, Gloryhammer, Harmony, Helloween, Kamelot, LEAH, Legend of Valley Doom, Lindemann (I'm sorry!), Neal Morse Band, Orden Ogan, Pyramaze, Russkaja, Rhapsody, Riverside, Serious Black, Signum Regis (2x), Stryper, Symphony X, Toto, Vexillum, W.A.S.P., Wind Rose, Winterage, Within Silence, Worldview

Final result: 32 releases to hurt my wallet.

2016 albums I have/want in three sections;

Released:
=> Avantasia, Neal Morse (Worship album), Myrath, Rhapsody of Fire
To be released, release date set:
=>Almanac, Circus Maximus, Innerwish, Haken, Hammerfall
To be released, no release date set (but likely to come out in 2016): Essence of Sorrow, Evertale, Freedom Call, Neal Morse Band, Narnia, Sabaton, Serious Black, Sound Storm, Michael Sweet, Theocracy, Twilight Force, Wind Rose, Worldview

Preliminary result: 22 releases.

So 2015: 32 releases, 2016: 22 releases. So far, your thesis is incorrect. But I'm open for it to become correct Very Happy  as we say in the Netherlands, the year is still young...

^Dude I was just cranking Angra's newest album on my way to work this morning!  It's really quite good and IMO their best since the Andre Matos era.

Also, them Signus Regis and Within Silence releases are super good too!

I'm really looking forward to buying their new album, based on their video clips and the fact that Fabio Lione is their singer. My favourite Angra album is Temple of Shadows, so if you say it's better than that... Very Happy

It's funny, folks on the Metal Archives were also discussing which is their favorite Angra album and just about nobody could agree haha.  Personally, I really didn't care for Temple Of Shadows at all; besides Aurora Consurgens, it's actually my least favorite of theirs...  Embarassed  My favorites are Angels Cry and Holy Land.  Fireworks and Rebirth were both pretty good.  They lost me for a while with TOS and AC, but I thought Aqua was a step in the right direction.  Secret Garden is just straight up, well done melodic power metal and it sounds good!  I hope you enjoy!

I guess I was mistaken when I opened this thread. I was thinking of more announcements and it has never happened.

As Tourniquet is still auditioning a new vocalist, I doubt they will have time to release something in this year.
Sacred Warrior is also doing a bit slowly. I don't think they will be able to release their album until december.

For now the only releases that became reality are the rereleases of Leviticus and Recon. And I couldn't get it so far, as we are in a serious crisis, where no expenses are allowed.

Disciple will release a new project later this year.

I am excited about the Michael Sweet solo project.

John Schlitt's new band The Union Of Sinners and Saints featuring members of both Petra and White Heart sounds promising.

GX Project is working on another.

Tempest is also working on a new project.

While not metal, I am loving the new Dogs Of Peace album.

One Bad Pig is gonna drop a reunion project this year as well.

So, there are quite a few projects that I am excited about.
