Anyone ever heard 80s Pantera?
Has anyone here ever heard Pantera's 80s albums (Metal Magic, Projects in the Jungle, I am the Night, and Power Metal). I have bootlegs (yeah, i know) of all 4 of them, and even though Metal Magic is kind of cheesy, theyre still enjoyable metal. They get tagged with the "hair metal" label, but its actually just traditional metal (it actually reminds me more of Armored Saint than anything).

I barely tolerate 90's Pantera. Not sure if this helps, or further hinders my "enjoyment" of them

"You must be," said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here."

Wow. Doesn't even sound like the same band.
I always thought Pantera was too slow, but its pretty cool they had some decent speed at one time.

Thank you! For acknowledging this fact!!!
I've been saying that this album is a masterpiece for years! It's up there with Metal Church's "The Dark"! Phenominal album!!!
It was the first album with new singer, Phil Anselmo, so it's like a 'crossover' album for the band from their early Glam Metal days ... to their 90s Groove Metal. "Power Metal" is an incredible album that the band never matched again (in terms of style, not success). I wish all of Pantera's albums were as good as "Power Metal". They'd be one of my favorite bands if so. I still like them, but they are far from a favorite. "Power Metal", however - remains one of my favorite traditional Heavy Metal albums to this day. Despite it's title, it's not Power Metal ... just really good Heavy Metal, with hints of Thrash ... which was to come.
