Ghost. Yay Or Nay?

I know a lot of us don't get a long with music that explore themes that relate to Satanism, the Occult, Anti-Religion, etc. but, for us that do enjoy it, what do you think of Ghost? This band has a mixed reaction in the metal community, and what I mean by that is that people either really love this band or really hate them. There are very few of us in the middle! I am going to see this band when they come with Iron Maiden in July but, I'm having a hard time getting into them. I like a song from them here and there but, I don't get the hype that surrounds this band. I find a lot of their songs boring. Maybe they're the kind of band that has to grow on me but, what do you guys think of them?

Personally, I decided I just don't care about bands that are only known because of their leeching on christianity; it's the best way to deal with those provocative bands. But then again, another way may be even liking the band and really don't care about their lyrics/imagery. Now that's metal.

Anyway, I never listened to them, but apparently they're into this catchy pop metal business. It can be fun (Sabaton!), but if their music is simple/poppy AND does not grab you... well, then that's that I guess

Nay.  They're lame, even without piggybacking on the played out "Satanic" theme.

I could have seen them at Rock on the Range last year but chose not to.

They have 1 good song.

I think the hype is mostly generated by the goofy image, they're nothing special.

Only song I've heard by them in full is the song in the OP (since it was the theme song to one of the NXT Takeover events). It was catchy, but I cant see why they're supposedly the next big thing in the metal scene.

Their schtick started them with two strikes against them, in my book, and their music was strike three. Definitely not interested.

I think so too. Kind of sucks I have to sit through their act when I see Iron Maiden this year.

I think so too. From what I read from other fans comments is that they feel the gimmick is very close to King Diamond.

I have a friend who LOVES them, but I can't get into them at all...

Love the sound.....but hate their message.

That's a nope for me too. I know that everything is a gimmick. Still not interested. I haven't even listened to the actual music.

The music is so-so IMO. The vocals I really can't get into. The guys singing style just wants to put me to sleep. I was never that much of a fan of that kind of singing. I'm more of a thrash/groove metal guy but, I love clean singing like Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Joey Belladonna, Rob Halford, etc. because they have character in their singing. I don't feel the same way about Ghost.

The image is pure shock value. 

Musically I could take it or leave it.  Haven't cared for anything I have heard.

Provoking the Most High is a dangerous game. That's a straight no for me.

Ghost is a POP band. The music, the whole show and the audience they have - that's pop.
Might sound like an insult but they deliver REALLY GOOD pop music IMO. So good that even a lot of metalheads like it. Even guys who normally prefer black and death metal. 

I haven't listened to all of their stuff but from what I remember Meliora was pretty good! Their whole imagery is extremely cheesy but I don't think that anybody in the band really wants that to be taken too seriously.

Actually, relistening to that song in the OP, it actually sounds more like Linkin Park.
