Hello! I am Stacey. I'm from Australia and I'm almost 15 (in a week I will be) I joined this form around last week to get to know some more metal bands. Generally I listen to heavy rock, but I love metal anyway

Hello all!

I rushed in taking part to discussions and realized that I didn´t introduce myself.

So... I come from northern Europe. I´ve been here before having different names. I don´t remember them anymore, and since I got rid of my old email-address I just didn´t even try to resurrect my old nick names.

At some point rasing my family took the time I used to spend in internet, but now my girls are starting to be older so maybe I have some time to pop in here more often.

I listen to all kinds of music nowadays from softer rock to full metal explosion. I listen to music that is well written and performed.

Some favourite bands: The Waiting, The Choir, The 77´s, Adam Again, Mastedon, White Heart, Kohllapse, Dwellceller, Motörhead, Metallica, Slayer, Strapping Young Lad (anything related to Devin Townsend really), Nightwish, Holy Soldier...  ok. I´ll guess you get the picture.

Hello everyone, my name is Alejandro. I'm from Honduras. Since I was a little boy (6) I have always liked metal music, at 6 the first band I heard was Metallica. In time I got into bands like GnR and some classics. Then I got into Slipknot one of my old times favorites then got into some metalcore like Architects, ADTR etc. In my journey into rock/metal music got to explore the heaviest and darkest genres like extreme black metal, brutal death metal etc.

I've always had a christian teaching since I was a kid, but I never got really deep into the christian thing until I was 15 years old. I got the chance of learning to play classic guitar but I got bored so I walk into bass guitar and then had a chance to play in some local soft rock christian bands. Played in some churches and christian events in my city. Sometimes I got paid and sometimes not, but I didn't even care about that. My passion was always the music and what better thing than use your instrument to expand the word of Jesus.

I got the chance to play in a secular band but I quit it because it didn't feel the same.

Now I'm 25 years old and I'm trying to get back to the road of Jesus, with the time going faster and faster got really busy with university, parties, drinks and some stupid things that lead me nowhere. So here I am, getting back on my feet and trying to be a better christian, like anyone else here I have my own problems, but with everything I have experienced in my life I got to understand that in the world you are alone but if you really surrender yourself to Christ, He will be with you no matter how bad things look.

I'm a football lover, calisthenics enthusiast and dog lover too.

I matter of music I'm a big fan of all genres of christian rock/metal music, some of my favorite bands are: Narnia, Theocracy, Rob Rock, Harmony, Saviour Machine, Glass Harp, Ajalon, Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada, Demon Hunter, Slechtvalk, Inmortal Souls, Horde, Crimson Moonlight, Vials of Wrath, Petra, Whiteheart, Pillar, A Plea for Purging, Broken Flesh, Impending Doom, Mortification, TourniqueT... and many many more including some soft stuff like Hillsong worship, Bethel, Casting Crowns etc.

So that's it haha I like to write a lot. So if you got here I'll let you my last.fm profile here

last.fm/es/user/OpusDei_ Smile

Have a blessed day!

Heyo, this thread is super old but here I am.

Name's Ben, age 20 in the USA

I've been a metal fan for a little over a year, starting with prog artists and now I've found my niche in power/traditional, although I find myself enjoying more and more extreme varieties (which is actually why I created this account, so that I could track down some older merch that I'm having trouble finding).

I've had a personal relationship with Christ since I was 13, and plan on going to school for Biblical Ministry/M.Div in the near future.

I march drum and bugle corps, and play the french horn.

Got a cat and a car

Hello there!

My name is Tobias, 35 years old, from south Germany, married.
I became a christian five years ago (been raised in a more or less christian family, but it was more like a culture thing then), but even in my congregation I stayed some kind of outsider due to my kind of subcultural history (or maybe just because I am a loner).
I grew up listening to various kinds of rock music, Wave, Punk, but also Metal, especially the (in the wider sense) Black Metal sound and parts (!) of the philosophy had left a strong impression on me, so even if I might not be considered a 100% metal head, I like metal, and I am glad to have found this forum where I hope to get in touch with nice people and discover some interesting bands...
So... enough talking for now! Smile

Cheers from bavaria
Tobias

Some music spam:
Last records I listened to:
Mike Oldfield - Tubular bells, Forlorn - The crystal palace, Antestor - The return of the black death

I think I am still about to discover the "classics".
Enjoyed much listening to Antestor, some Horde is great, too. Vials of Wrath I discovered just yesterday after a link on the christian metal subreddit. I really like their lyrics, especially from "As the shadows grow long". Sometimes I can be a bit picky about song lyrics, and those really amazed me.

I`ll check out some of the bands you mentioned Smile Thanks for the recommendations!

Well, each album is a fair bit different than the last so it sorta depends on which style you prefer.  Although within each album, the songs are very consistent and IMO there aren't any particularly weak songs.  Here is one from each full-length:

From The Covenant Progress (symphonic black metal)

From Veil Of Remembrance (black/death metal)

From Divine Darkness (black metal)

Hi all.

My name is Henrik Böckelman, and I'm the current bass player for the Finnish bands Hilastherion and Northern Flame. I've been a christian pretty much all my life, I think I was around 11 when I took a conscious decision to not just follow in my parents' footsteps, but to actually call myself a christian. I've also been a metalhead for a huge part of my life, I enjoy most genres of music as long as the music's good. But Hard Rock, Old School Heavy Metal, Melodic Death Metal and Hardcore push my buttons the most. And I also like it when there are influences from Punk Rock.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this community,
God bless you all

Right on, welcome Henrik! We're happy to have you here.

I'm stoked that Northern Flame is alive once again and making new material. I have one of the special 3-disc versions of Glimpse Of Hope that Metal Helm put out some time ago and really enjoy it a lot.

I would love to have one of the special editions myself, but they seem to be really hard to find. Discogs said that 3 members have it and 4 members want it, so... Wink I joined the band after the special editions had already been sold out everywhere.

I was a member previously, but it's been a while since I was here.

While I'm not as much of a music fan as I used to be (and sadly, not as strong as a Christian as I used to be, either) I missed the interaction with this group.

I believe at one time I used the same name as I have now, Bought4Life. Some of you may recognize me (hopefully in a good way..Smile).

Anyway, my real name is Dean, and I am happy to be back...and thank you Kerrick for having me back.

(Favorite bands are Stryper, DIO, Van Halen, GX, KISS, AC\DC, Rez)

Thanks, SB..it's nice to be back...

As for the weekend in question....man, that was some good helium. I kinda developed a helium habit after that...you know, stalking the balloon vendors in Central Park was my low point. Now I've switched over to Hydrogen....it's a little more of an "explosive" reaction. Smile

I'm very happy you decided to come back and say hi!  I especially appreciate your sense of humor.  Smile

As for your Christian-Strength-O-Meter, I'm a firm believer that God didn't design us to exist in a vacuum away from other believers.  This forum shouldn't replace your involvement with a local church, but it is a good means to supplement.  Smile  The Prayer/Praise section has been a little quiet lately; definitely feel free to bring some life to that section too!  There are a lot of folks who would be happy to be praying for you, including me.

Was looking thru this thread and most people introduce themselves then quietly disappear forever.

And B4L I know what it is like to have your faith challanged. 2018 was a bad year for us. Still dealing with a lot of issues because of Hurricane Michael. Thankful God protected us but the damage was devastating and it is going to take YEARS for this area to recover. It really put a strain on our family and everyone I know that lives here, church included. Our pastor died right before Thanksgiving and right after the storm.

Yeah, forums have always been my thing. In fact I have been on forums since around 1984. That's a LONG time. Back when I had a Commodore 64 and used dial up where only one person at a time could log in. Never had a facebook or anything like that so I will stick with forums til the end. Not sure what happened to some of the old users but I think they are still out there but no longer use the forums. Most of them are pretty quiet.

Some of both I think...  2018 saw some high quality albums released, but there were only a handful.  Some of our more regular members have had big life changes that preclude them from posting much too.

At our old church, there were not many young families when we first arrived.  In speaking with the associate pastor, he told us how so many young families came but left because there weren't others.  If the first few had just stayed, most likely many others would have as well.  I suspect it's the same sort of thing happening here.  Plus, as was already said, the forum platform just isn't as popular.  I still much prefer it and intend on keep fighting the good fight hahaha!   geek

Yeah, I can see them slowly fading away. I also think there have been a lot of attacks on forums by hackers, and many of the forums have simply given up the fight due to it. I can count at least 6 forums that I used to go to that got hit hard by hackers this past year and never recovered. Most of them were hit with a never ending stream of gibberish posts. Even some of the PlayStation support forums got hit. Heck, THIS forum got hit years ago by a group and they had to abandon their domain,

MikeInFla wrote:Yeah, forums have always been my thing.

Forums will always have a special place in my heart, especially this one. You would think people would be more civil on Facebook than in forums, since you can see who they are, but it doesn't seem that way. FB is filled with lots of _____.

I know when I left, it was partly due to losing interest in music but it was also partly due to a small handful of posters that seemed to want to force their views onto everyone (I haven't seen any of them since I came back....but during my hiatus, I did peek in now and then and saw them..so I continued to stay away).

I can say one thing....I know this is going back a little ways...but I still believe  the whole Rob/MacKenzie thing did a lot of damage. Outside of this forum, I know there was a lot of turmoil and choosing of sides on Facebook during all that drama....and I remember some of it filtered into here. They/he/she (whatever) had really touched a lot of people's lives (in a positive way) and had really helped some small bands get exposure. I think with the drama and hatred that followed it probably turned off a lot of people from the scene in general. People let themselves get influenced way too easy sometimes (myself included).

^Yeah most of the troublemakers have left too (or been banned) so it's been a pretty civil place for a while now.  I actually would like to see the Theology Realm reopened, since it's silly to have a Christian metal forum where discussions of Christian doctrine/beliefs/theology are limited.  But that decision isn't solely up to me.

Indeed, the whole Mac/Rob thing got pretty ugly and I'm sure it had an effect.  But while that's certainly the most bizarre of the dramas/"scandals" within the scene that I'm aware of, there are plenty of other instances too.  Just the other day I was made aware of a "Christian" metal artist who quite publicly threatened peoples' lives on FB, stole money, and other terrible things.  From the outside, these things make Christianity look quite pathetic.  Though as Christians, it all can serve as a good reminder of our fallen and depraved nature - and thus the desperate need for a Savior...
