Animals is hands down my favorite. Maybe an odd pick but I love the story telling and the music. There are also many others I like, hard to pick but Animals is my # 1.

This is my second pick.
Not on my favorite list: The Wall - I've always found the album to depressing and perhaps a bit too much of Roger Waters.

I am not a HUGE fan of their later stuff. But I LOVE the Syd Barrett era stuff.

I've had "Welcome To The Machine" stuck in my head recently. Excellent example of 70's era synthesizer taking you places. That song makes you feel like you are in a machine.

I loved it as the soundtrack to the movie, but on it's own, I lose interest in it.

Re: Pink Floyd Anyone.....
A few years ago, for the 35 Anniversary of Animals the pig reappeared over Battersea Power Station (now unused).
As for the real old stuff, I have "Relics" and that about covers the early stuff that I like. Also love The Wall. Listen at the very beginning, it is extremely quiet. The first words spoken on "The Wall" are "we came in". Then at the very end of "The Wall" (also very soft spoken) are the words "Isn't this where". Took me years to figure out what they were saying but once I figured out the first part of "we came in" i realized it was "Isn't this where we came in" and in theory The Wall continues to rebuild.
I have DSOFM on vinyl, found a used copy from the 70's and it included the poster and stickers! My copy of WYWH is in terrible shape but it was a free record so I can't complain.
I also love "The Division Bell".

Re: Pink Floyd Anyone.....
I always thought the Wall was a brilliantly written album, good storytelling and musicmanship too I knew about the spoken words at the beginning and the end of the album.
I go through periods where I want to hear nothing but the Wall, and go into stints with Saucerful of Secrets, and or Meddle.
Right now Pink Floyd is one of the few bands I never tire of.
Animals for me is ok, but I pefer earlier stuff like the first album and Meddle
I would love to get copies of the Rick Wright solo albums

I would be much more interested in Pink Floyd if it was all just David Gilmour guitar solos.....that guy has tone figured out.

WYWH, Darkside and Meddle are my favorites. I think their first two albums are really underrated though. Though it has a couple great songs, The Wall is really overrated. If we're talking progressive, concept double albums, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Quadrophenia are far superior.

Re: Pink Floyd Anyone.....
They announced recently that they are finished.
For me, their greatness was from 1967-1977

Yeah, David announced they are indeed done. I don't have "Endless River" yet but I will probably eventually pick it up. Sounds interesting and I have enjoyed the tracks that I heard. It's a shame they didn't invite Roger, especially since they had mended some old wounds.

Endless River is wonderful for background music as it is mostly instrumental. Most of the songs were unreleased stuff during The Division Bell sessions.MikeInFla wrote:Yeah, David announced they are indeed done. I like that album, it is very soothing. The artwork has been my screen saver since it came out.

Re: Pink Floyd Anyone.....
I think it was a no brainer that they were done, IMO the fact that Endless River was released really surprised me.
I agree about the first 2 albums being under-rated. Piper for me has alot of great songs as does Saucerful of Secrets.
I think for me The Wall tells a great story, seeing it done live was an awesome experience too
