Leviticus - I Shall Conquer

Post by pathogenics_cloned_twin83 on Fri Aug 07, 2015 4:06 pm

Just got the M8 re-release of this, and I have to say its not as bad as I'd read it was. Not anything jaw-dropping or terribly memorable, but catchy enough.  It could have been much better if it had been given a better recording budget and a better singer. Oddly enough, I like the bonus tracks from their first EP much more than the album material, even though the production is rougher and they're not in English.

I have to agree with Candlemass here.  I love that album!  That one and "Setting Fire To The Earth" are their best albums in my opinion.

I have only heard a few samples of this album (I don't know if it was the remastered version or not), but I simply can't stand the singer.
By the way, the best band's singer is the one who is on Setting fire...
I was so disappointed when I discovered that is the only.album that he sang on.
And it is also disappointing that he and the bassist player went to form a band like Jet Circus.

Jet Circus was very interesting. I have both of the albums that they put out and still listen to them every now and then.

Here's my take:
I Shall Conquer is a great album.  Strongest Power is great too.  Setting Fire to the Earth is their best. Knights of Heaven is not worth mentioning.  Both Jet Circus albums are excellent.  Ez Gomer is amazing on bass.  That's it.

Knights of Heaven does have alot of duds on it, but I've always liked the songs "Messiah" and "Over The Hills", and the ballad "For Once In My Life" was pretty cool, so its reason enough for me to own the cd.

Interesting thread.  I only have Knights of Heaven (listening now because of this thread), but I never pursued any of the others because it didn't grab me.  Looks like I might have some shopping to do.

I enjoy Knights of Heaven as well. It's lighter, the singer has a different vibe from the others and I know, we cannot compare it with Setting Fire to the Earth, but this album is a good listening.

My point is that I can't listen to a band if the singer is not good. And both singers of the albums mentioned above are good. Though, I don't care about the other Leviticus singers, as well asfor their released albums. I simply can't get into them due to the singers. And the raw production also annoys me...
