Weekly Bible Study #43
This week I want to talk a bit about prayer, but in particular I want to talk about making your needs known to God. Obviously being omniscient God knows our needs, as shown in Matthew 6, but we are also told to ask Him.
James 4:2
2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
This verse is pretty clear in stating we do not have what we need/want simply because we haven’t asked. Can it really be that simple?
Philippians 4:6
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
I think we can often have different reasons for not outright telling God what we want. Sometimes we may feel like we are not worthy to ask for such a thing, but God wants us to talk to Him and to tell Him what we want. A lot of us in a way are a bit like pouty kids when it comes to this. You know, you dont want to outright ask for what you want, but instead you just act as if your parents should already know, then when we don’t get what we want we are upset about it.
Well we need to make our desires clear because as the next verse says:
Matthew 7:7-8
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
You know who is really good at telling you what they want? Babies. I have been learning this myself lately. They don’t have a way to obtain things on their own are forced to rely on their parents for everything. At the early stages of life literally the only tool they have at their disposal is their voice, and boy do they use it.
They do their best to let us know “Hey! I need attention here!”, yet as adults we can fail at this basic communication.
Have you come before God and let Him know what you need?

Re: Metal Blessing Radio
Weekly Bible Study #44
Last week was Valentine’s Day and while some of you may have spent some time with a special someone and others without there is one thing to remember. God sent you an open Valentine quite some time ago and it stands forever. God loves us as His children and he wants us to love Him, so in a manner of speaking God wants to be your Valentine this year and every year. One of the best ways to show this is through praise and worship so this week I just want to go over a few scriptures regarding worship
Colossians 3:14-17
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Songs are not the only way to lift up the Lord, you can lift Him up through many different ways as this scripture says that whatever we do in word or deed to do it all in His name.
Hebrews 13:15
15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
As we lift Him up with our lips, singing or in some cases screaming songs of praise to Him lets take a look at one more passage from Psalms.
Psalm 150
150 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

This past Saturday, December 6th was the 4th Annual Not So Silent Night benefit concert for the Tulsa CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for children) and it was a great night. This was our first time having a table at an event and was a great time. We shared a table with BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse).
Here are all the toys raised that night:
And finally the bands:

Unblack History Week!
This week I did a "Unblack History Week" show in which I highlighted bands that have been significant in the progression or general history of Christian black metal, or unblack depending on who your talking to.
http://metalblessingradio.podomatic.com/entry/2015-02-23T19_01_33-08_00
Featuring facts about and music by Horde, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, Hortor, Lengsel, Vaakevandring and more!
I am also posting a fact each day this week on the Metal Blessing Radio facebook page about a band. Monday's band was Horde, today is Antestor.
For those who missed last night and this morning...
--------------------
Unblack History Week, Day 1:
Horde
Although other, less known bands existed prior, Horde is often credited as the first Christian Black metal band, or “Unblack” depending on who you ask. Jayson Sherlock previously of Mortification performed all instruments and vocals for Horde. The release of Hellig Usvart in 1994 caused such a stir in the black metal community that Nuclear Blast Records received numerous death threats to reveal the musician’s identity who called himself “Anonymous.”
Hellig Usvart also coined the term “Unblack Metal”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99tpwaZG_wA
----------------------
Unblack History Week, Day 2 Part 1:
Antestor
While Antestor began before Horde, they started out playing doom metal and after Horde came onto the scene they began their shift towards black metal.
Of all their albums, “The Return of the Black Death” probably holds the most historical significance, as the band was noticed by the large secular metal label Cacophonous Records. The label initially was unaware Antestor were Christians, but upon discovering this Cacophonous immediately dropped the band. They released the album for the band but they made no effort to promote it or support it, additionally the words Lord and Jesus were censored from their lyrics, and the label changed their album artwork to a famous Norwegian painting. According to band interviews they have never received any money or royalties from Cacophonous.
In more recent news, in 2013 the band played in Brazil in promotion of their latest album, Omen. During the event the band was attacked by an angry mob and required a police escort.

Re: Metal Blessing Radio
I tend to forget to post things on the forum as opposed to Facebook. Going to re-post all the posts I should have posted this week starting with:
Unblack History Week, Day 2 Part 2:
Admonish
Named “One of the leading Christian black metal bands” by Metal Hammer magazine in the 1990’s, Admonish is known as the first Christian black metal band to come out of Sweden. In 2006 both Emil and Jonas were on the MTV Europe show “Pimp My Ride International” in which they promoted the band

Re: Metal Blessing Radio
Unblack History Week, Day 3:
Crimson Moonlight
This band started with the intention of recording an old school black metal demo, playing one show and then breaking up. The breakup however never happened and they went on to release several more albums and become one of the greatest Christian black metal acts in history.

Unblack History Week, Day 4 Part 1:
Frost Like Ashes
Hailing from America, this band was somewhat controversial not only due to the use of corpse paint but also due to their live performances which adopted similar imagery to satanic black metal but reversed to portray a rejection of Satan, such as ripping up the Satanic Bible, and smashing a pentagram with a sword.

Unblack History Week, Day 4 Part 2:
LENGSEL
Possibly the only black metal band ever signed to Solid State Records, their Solace album is regarded as a classic work of Christian black metal. All members of Lengsel were also members of Extol at one time.

Unblack History Week Day 5
HORTOR
Formed in 2004 and Hailing from Mexico, Hortor has been at the front of the Mexican unblack metal movement. Since Hortor came onto the unblack scene there have been many other promising bands coming out of Mexico. Their latest album, Dios De Dioses features drumwork by Michael Cook from A Hill To Die Upon.

Re: Metal Blessing Radio
The new home of the Metal Blessing Radio podcast is officially now:
http://podcast.metalblessingradio.com
The benefits of this over podomatic is unlimited bandwidth and and I have full control over the content. This also means I can keep more episodes up at any given time since bandwidth shouldnt be an issue. Recently I have been deleting all old episodes for this reason but now they should be here to stay.
The iTunes url transition was a bit rocky but it seems the feed url is now functioning properly with the new address. If anyone sees issues be sure to let me know.
I'm really bad at keeping this thread updated so we will see if I can start updating it more often

Re: Metal Blessing Radio
Due to the 2016-2020 royalty rates proposed by the CRB it looks like my host, Live365 will likely be closing shop. In preparation I have migrated the Metal Blessing Radio stream to a new hosting provider located in France.
What this means for you:
1. the home page at https://metalblessingradio.com now has a few new widgets for easily tuning in and recent tracks.
2. You no longer have to use Live365's flash player
3. You can tune in with your favorite media player such as Winamp, Window Media, etc.
4. If you live outside the United States you may see better performance since the stream is now hosted in France
5. This new host brings the option of an android and iOS app
6. Higher listener cap
While Live365 was a nice service, given that they provided otherwise costly licensing, it also brought with it many restrictions and limitations. Such as not being allowed to build a mobile app, and not being allowed very much integration to my external site as well as various other red tape restrictions. Now that I am moving away from them I may be looking into real mobile apps for Metal Blessing Radio.
