Re: Facebook
Nope, you absolutely are not alone. I don't have one myself, never did and never will .... thought I was the only one in the world left who doesn't have one.

Re: Facebook
I never had MySpace and never really wanted Facebook, but I made an account while looking something up for a friend and i thought I'd need an account to access some content (which turned out not to be there). I ignored it for ages but I've found myself using it more and more lately. It has a way of drawing you in.

Re: Facebook
I would be willing to bet there are at least 5 to 10 CMR members without FB accounts (but I'm not one of them). Metal fans like to be rebels....even if it means rebelling against social networking.....which is kinda funny because the CMR is a social network.

Re: Facebook
I often do feel left out of a lot of stuff. All my friends are on Facebook and oftentimes only post stuff there. I'll find out big news about things and ask about it and they'll say, "Oh, you didn't know? I posted it on Facebook 2 months ago!"
I do have a Twitter account though. I find it to be a little more private and easier to use.

I must admit that while I do have a f.b. account I only have about a dozen friends, and I still have no idea what is going on....

Re: Facebook
I just reopened my FB account this year, only have about 100 friends but they are all either close friends or connected to the entertainment industry.
It has opened doors for me like I could never have dreamed of.
The bands I have learned about, the concerts I have been to or am going to, the musicians I have become friends with that I get to talk to via private message now, the LOCAL musicians that I have become friends with and actually go see now...wow....my music life is so much better now WITH facebook.
Not to mention apps like Bandsintown and Spotify that I got from FB.
Will never go without it again.
In fact, I spend very little time here anymore because I get the news quicker from FB.

I don't come here for news. I come here for fellowship with like minded people about a common subject. See, I have no problem with social networking, I just don't like being stalked.

I prefer to do the majority of my "fellowshipping" in person, so I go out to a lot of concerts and go to clubs with friends. FB helps me find places to go.
And if you use the block feature and are selective about who you friend you won't get stalked.

I'm aware of the privacy settings, it's just a bit more complicated for me than the average person I think based on major family troubles and old "friends".bought4life wrote:music___me wrote:bought4life wrote:In fact, I spend very little time here anymore because I get the news quicker from FB.

Re: Facebook
I use it. I don't see much reason not to these days. I got rid of it once, but I can't quite remember why and I came back to it.

Facebook is cool. I can keep in contact with some people I know online through it. Further, you can join plenty of groups that suit your interest.

Then you just do it under an alias. I know people who are totally anonymous on FB. Just saying...you are missing out on a lot of great music news and such.
It's really cool to talk to the guys from The Brave, WildSide, Liberty N Justice, Absolon, Whitecross, Nostalgia, Rizin, MASS, Tango Down, etc etc...could go on for hours about the bands that I have gotten to converse with thru FB.

Re: Facebook
I've had an FB account now for about 4 years. I've actually deleted or deactivated my account several times. Even deleting friends and then having to add them back several times. I have one female friend that I upset and we are not FB friends but we still communicate through messaging on FB. Weird I know but it seems to work out just fine...lol
