Re: quick vinyl rant for labels...
I think they may slow down as Rainbow Records, which makes all of this random colored vinyl closed it doors. It didn't go out or business but rather had a dispute with the owner of the building who would not let them stay there. They had been in business since 1938 but I don't know if it was the same location the whole time. Anyway, they said it would be too much of a hassle to move so they decided to shut down. Hopefully they will go back to black vinyl on some of this stuff. I normally buy the black myself but did pick up Weapons on blue vinyl and Recon on orange but other than that the others I have ordered have been black. And seeing the upcoming reissues for 2020 there is really nothing that interests me at this point anyway.

Don't care either way. Colored vinyl is a gimmick, but one that I prefer to pay for. I like color vinyl more than black vinyl. But black vinyl is fine. Despite what some say, they sound the same. Color just looks better.
However, there are several record plants that do the random color vinyl thing. I have worked behind the scenes on some Kickstarters that did random vinyl color, but neither one of them were with Rainbow Records. That is going no where soon.

Lol...if it’s Metal, the color should be black vinyl by default! Although, I don’t mind an occasional blood splatter vinyl! They look killer!crucifyd wrote:dear record labels,

My rant would be this: stop doing vinyl!
I just don't get the whole vinyl craze and probably never will.

I am totally not on board the vinyl craze. My friends agree, we would never want to go back to vinyl.
That said, if I did, I would prefer black vinyl. But I wonder if that is because while living through the heyday of vinyl, I learned that colored vinyl always had inferior sound quality. So maybe there is just a psychological barrier there for some of us older folks.

The latest Banshee "random color" was on one of Scott's YouTube videos and he mentioned it was the last release because the plant was closing down. So I knew it was Rainbo Records. I think I asked Bill Roxx a few years ago as well who they used and he said Rainbo.
I don't mind it either really but will normally buy black because it's a few bucks cheaper. However, these gold CDs I refuse to buy.
Normally I buy more vinyl than anything. I don't even have a working CDs player at home anymore. For some releases, like the new Saint, I listen in my truck because that cd player works fine. But I'll also put them in the PC and rip em to my phone.

Nah, that was a misleading article. I know the one you're referring to.

I was extremely happy to move away from vinyl into cds back in the day. Album covers are cool, and it is nostalgic, but no way do I want to go back to that.

Just FYI, a quick online search shows that most record plants do random vinyl for cheap - Untied, Gotta Groove, Discmakers, etc all have options to get random vinyl.
