ImpelliTEAR-IT-UP! WOW
I had acquired Impelliterri's 1987 debut EP a few years back, and it didn't really do much for me. I got it at the same time as To Hell with the Devil and Detonation (I was doing a nerdy run through the well-known Christian metal bands of the mid 80s), and it impressed me the least of the three.
I hadn't given the band a shot for a while (though I'd heard plenty of other Rob Rock projects). I just listened to Screaming Symphony and was blown away! Wow. Certainly one of the most fun Christian metal albums I've heard.
Which Impellitteri album do you all suggest next?

I would go for ‘Eye of the Hurricane’ or ‘Crunch’

What I mostly like about the black ep is that the songs were sooo high.
Screaming Symphony is their best 90's album. Their second best is certainly Answer to the Master, which is a hard-to-find album.
Then, I would recommend listening to their most recent albums Wicked Maiden and Venon. Both are very powerful albums.
Eye of the Hurricane is nice, too. But I would follow the list above.

I would say anything by Impellitteri with Rob Rock on vocals ROCKS... I agree with Thiago though if you are just looking for a select few.

Anything w/ Ken Mary on drums is worth getting. I would be more interested in the band if they brought him back even more than when they brought Rob back. Single bass drumming seems to fit their style moreso than double.

I have all the Impellitteri albums that Rob Rock sang on including the 3 EPs and Stand In Line with Graham Bonnet on vocals. I like Impellitteri as much as I like Rob's other projects like his solo stuff, Driver, Project Driver and Joshua Intense Defense. There is a new album coming out this year called Nature of the Beast. He has hired great studio and live musician throughout the tears like drummer Glen Sobel (Alice Copper), bassist Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake), drummer John Dette (Slayer), Pat Torpey (Mr. Big), drummer Ken Mary (Magdallan/Magdalen), etc.

I just don't get it. I'm in the minority. I should love this stuff, but I can't get into Impellitteri, no matter how hard I try. I can't even articulate why. I just don't care for this at all. I've somewhat liked their more recent stuff (Venom, etc.) more than their older stuff, but even that barely holds my interest. I love melodic heavy metal, but something about their sound just turns me off. Weird, I know.

It isn't weird to me at all. I am the same way with Theocracy and fully understand this. It is all just whether a band's sound tickles the ears and moves the soul or not.

Hah - I knew I wasn't alone. I remember a few others on this board saying the same thing. Welcome to the "Theocracy is 'meh'" crowd.alldatndensum wrote:Follower of Jesus wrote:. I love melodic heavy metal, but something about their sound just turns me off. Weird, I know.
