CPR - I had no idea
I had no idea this was going on. Needed some new (old) tunes so I went for it. Usually I don't go for remakes , but these are really good to my old Petra loving ears.

Thanks for the reminder. We had talked about this very early in the year and I had not heard they were done with recording. https://thecmr.forumotion.com/t9987-cpr-greg-x-volz

I'd love to hear new stuff, not interested in remakes.

The remakes will give them more licensing control over these old songs. It will also help to gauge whether or not there is enough interest in a new project from this band. This is really just a continuation of the band Classic Petra where the goal was to do two remake albums before launching into a new album with all new stuff. I am hoping that this is the plan for CPR (Classic Petra Revisited).
Even though I have done a personal remaster of all the old Petra albums, I will probably get this to get some of my favorite songs together on one release instead of several.
It's also getting time, in my opinion, for a new John Schlitt project. I just wish we'd get a new album from John and Bob Hartmann in the "Beyond Belief" style.

Glad they are dong stuff, I enjoyed the last Classic Petra album of remakes, this one not so much (I feel it is ballad heavy). I am looking forward to them doing some more music in this style of all new material. Surprised Bob not there but I guess he is busy doing other things.

I will be getting this on CD. I agree that almost half the album are ballads and 6 upbeat songs. The only 2 I don't care for the For Annie and Dream On songs but the rest sounds fantastic. 1981-1985 are one of my favorite eras of Petra. They are pressing CDs and they will be available soon.

Nice. The production is really impressive. Very profesional work. Still, it is kind of weird to listen to petra without Bob.

I do wonder why Bob is out. I thought that the Classic Petra reunion was his idea. I hate that he is not there, but I will enjoy this even without him. It will be interesting now to see if they go forward with new music in this style.
Re: CPR - I had no idea
Little do I know about music industry, but I understand that the interest in forming Classic Petra was from a label who thought it could be a very profitable business.
They signed in, release a live cd/Dvd but apparently the attention it got was below the expected, so the label lost its interest.
The guys went ahead and did CPR independently, but Bob and Mark didn't seem to want to be a part of it.

I hate it that Bob is out, but I can't say that I miss Mark Kelley. When I first got into Petra, Ronnie Cates was the bass player and he does some great licks on the albums he is on. So, I think they will be just fine with Ronnie.
