Any Europe fans in the house?

Post by P86ninja on Fri Nov 03, 2017 2:27 pm

Europe's new album, Walk the Earth came out a few weeks ago!!!  If you listened to their last album, War of Kings, this new record continues in that vein while branching out a bit into some unchartered territory.  Overall the album proudly displays a lot of Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy influences with a bit of Led Zepplin sprinkled in for good measure.  As a longtime Europe fan, I, of course, love their music from the 80's, but I have also learned to really enjoy the stuff that they have been putting out since Start From the Dark back in 2004.  While Secret Society still remains my favorite post-reunion album, I can honestly say that each record that they have done continues to feature quality music that rarely gets dull or boring!  Here is the video to the title track from the new album.  Enjoy!

Sounds good, you can definitely hear the Deep Purple influence in this track, but much more as well.  I wish their more recent albums where more readily available in the U.S.

Love Europe. Listened to the epic The Final Countdown about a week ago.

Been listening and while I enjoy it I find I stop paying attention to the songs. Starting with Bag of Bones they morphed into too much of a Deep Purple sound.

Cool song and style!

Of course, except for "The Final Countdown" which was super polished for an American audience, I've always heard the Deep Purple influence in their music.

Hey Staybrite,

Hey Black Rider,

Out of all their recent stuff, Bag of Bones is my least favorite, but even that album has some songs that I do enjoy like Not Supposed to Sing the Blues, Firebox, and Demon Head.

I would probably rank their new albums something like this:

1) Secret Society
2) War of Kings
3) Start From the Dark
4) Walk the Earth
4) Last Look at Eden (Half of the songs I love, the other half...not so much!)
5) Bag of Bones

Last time I checked there (several months back) it seemed most of the newer titles were at import prices (around $25 ea).  I will have to look again.

Here are some links that you might find worth looking into:

https://www.amazon.com/Walk-Earth-Europe/dp/B0758967TZ/ref=ice_ac_b_dpb_twi_aud_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510160861&sr=8-1&keywords=europe+walk+the+earth+cd

https://www.amazon.com/Kings-Digipak-Version-Bonus-Track/dp/B00RF8MBZC/ref=sr_1_1_twi_aud_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1510160895&sr=1-1&keywords=europe+war+of+kings

https://www.amazon.com/Last-Look-Eden-Bag-Bones/dp/B00CSGZDYW/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1510160923&sr=1-3&keywords=europe+bag+of+bones

https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Society-Europe/dp/B01G47F8UE/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1510160953&sr=1-2&keywords=europe+secret+society

https://www.amazon.com/Start-Dark-Europe/dp/B0002T24CG/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1510160987&sr=1-1&keywords=europe+start+from+the+dark

I looked around on some other sites and it seems like Amazon has some of the best prices overall.

The prices on several of those albums has certainly dropped since the last time I looked at them.  They must have finally gotten a decent U.S. distribution deal.
Thanks.
