New here
hello first time here. my name is alex and I look forward to getting to know you guys. I am 24 and love metal!!! I am a Christian and love Christian metal but I have not really gotten to know many bands except styper pod and some of the more popular bands. my dad was really into Christian metal and had a lot of music. I lost my dad 12 years ago and my brothers got most of his stuff so I didn't get any of his cds. I have been out of the country for a few years and no internet. I am way outta the loop so maybe you guys can direct me to some good music. I love old metal and hard rock and even some of the newer stuff. overseas I listened to firehouse, ratt, bon jovi, ac/dc, maiden, priest, dio, etc. didn't have any access to Christian stuff. love that style of music but can only listen to lyrics about sex drugs for so long. maybe any good online Christian radio?

WELCOME IROCKME!!!
I think this one is a good starter for you from a current heavy hitter in the Christian metal industry. Theocracy and their song "Ghost Ship"

Re: New here
Having been a metal fan and Christian for more than 30 years, but only embracing Christian metal over the past couple years, I can offer you some of the Christian bands I have fallen in love with during my brief pursuit of them: Living Sacrifice, Demon Hunter, Bloodgood, Saving Grace, War of Ages, Place of Skulls, Antestor and Sleeping Giant.
Believe me, you have come to the right place. I had a lot of help finding these, and many other, great Christian bands from the members here. Rock on!!!

Re: New here
Welcome aboard, bro! It's always good to have new "faces" around here.
There are soooo many bands to learn about (Theocracy is definitely a good start). There are bands from different countries, playing different genres, singing in different languages. Lots of choices. From the bands you mentioned, it sounds like you would enjoy some of the 80's bands. Some of them wore pretty heavy influences of some of the bands you mentioned. You might try...

Try those and see what you think.
Once again, welcome.

Re: New here
Welcome. I'm not much into old school metal - others here can give you recommendations far better than I. I can certainly list some of the more contemporary stuff though.
The obvious first would be, as Adam said, Theocracy. Great power prog metal band. As The World Bleeds is their best album. Start with that and / or their latest release, Ghost Ship. Then check out Mirror of Souls (the title track is my favorite song of all time) and their self-titled album.
Adam posted Ghost Ship, which was great single. Here's another favorite of mine, 30 Pieces of Silver.
And one of their big epics, I AM.
Another great Christian metal band in the same vein is Harmony. Their first and third albums are mixed bags, but their second, Chapter II: Aftermath, is a masterpiece.
My favorite song from them is Rain.
Another good power metal band is the relatively new Gloriam Dei. Their album, the Covenant, was one of my favorites of 2015.
Sacrecy's self titled album is also pretty great. Sadly, it was their only release and they don't seem to be active anymore.
For straight up prog metal, nothing beats Affector's Harmagedon. I would be hesitant to label Affector as a "Christian band," but Harmagedon is a concept album about the end times, and most of the lyrics are biblical text set to music.
Mehida's Blood & Water album is another favorite of mine.

Welcome! It's nice to have you here.
Folks have mentioned a ton of great bands. One particularly underrated band you may enjoy is Sardis. Enjoy!

We literally watched Kevin, the guitarist, grow up right here on CMR. He's developed his chops where he could be playing for anyone out there, but he is making art to glorify God. I don't talk to him much anymore, but I have great respect his musical abilities. He is a shredder among shredders!
Re: New here
Their singer Sean is also a member here though doesn't come around too often. I know him from the old Becoming The Archetype forum from WAY back when.

Re: New here
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the suggestions. metaldude, I joined military right out of high school. I served for four years and spent time in several countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, austrailia, and have got my degree in computer science and am a network architect. I work for the government and have been doing top security stuff in several countries that I am not able to talk about but it's not as cool as it sounds as far as I am concerned. I was at the don't know don't care just pay me mode and I was not allowed to have internet access in most places so I didn't really get it or use it outside of work because of 12 to 18 hour days 6-7 days a week. I just moved back and started work with someone else. enough about me, I gots lots of stuff to listen to. oh I just found a station here called dead to self and think I might have all I need there. thanks again everyone
