Who else is excited for the new movie!

I have been looking forward to this movie since they announced it almost 3 years ago, I think Gal is the perfect fit and with all the hype, this is up there with Star Wars 8 and War For The Planet Of The Apes for my most anticipated movies of this year.

I know some people got to see early screenings and are loving it

I hope it does well critically unlike the other DC movies

Plus the posters are some of the best ever

I'll definitely watch it

I am very excited about this!  I feel that this and the new Justice League movie will be the make or break films for the DC universe.  If they fail critically or fail to make what they hope, then DC will be relegated to the CW network or Netflix.  Both of those would be cool, but I feel there is room on the big screen for these characters.

I also feel that DC could, if done right, compete and even hurt Marvel.  Marvel is starting to get into more of the alternative, less popular characters.  This will eventually slow them down as people showed up to see the Avengers but might not care for lesser known characters.  I probably won't unless they are done very well.

However, I WILL show up for Justice League character films.  I know these characters and loved them growing up.  Nostalgia can go a long way in selling these films, but DC HAS to see what works and use that formula:  good character development, not such a dark tone overall, good baddies, and some lighthearted humor throughout.  It is a formula that Marvel has mastered.

I think thats why we havent heard anything about next years movies, (except Aquaman which just started filming) The Flash and the Batman movie slated for next year havent had any news lately, they are still looking for a director for The Flash and havent said much recently about Batman

I think Warner Bros is waiting to see how Wonder Woman will do before they start those movies

Because if this and JL dont do well, Aquaman will be the final movie in the DCEU

Some early reviews sound like Wonder Woman is really good. I hope so. There is a part of me, that suspects some of the rhetoric could be because people want a woman superhero to do well no matter what.

The news surrounding the Flash is abysmal. They've gone through a few directors.

The news for the solo Batman movie is dismal as well.  Affleck stepped down as the director and is just writing the script and starring.  There were rumors that he was stepping down from starring as well, but that hasn't happened.   Like Hardcore said above, I think a lot of what is going on at DC is the "hurry up and wait" game to see if the movies they've already shot do well.  They do not want more movies like "Batman Vs. Superman" or "Suicide Squad" that get reamed out by reviewers even though they performed decently with ticket sales.  They need a couple of big hits so that Hollywood really sees them as contenders against the whole Disney/Marvel empire.

This thread reminded me of this recent Bill Maher piece. I think Wonder Woman could be good, but I am having a sense of superhero overload.

Well its looking like WW is gonna be the savior of the DCEU

Highest Rotten Tomatoes rating, out of any DC or Marvel movie!!!

The critics all over have been praising this movie, for its action, character development, Gal as WW and her relationship with Chris Pine's Trevor, the visuals have been praised and a lot more!

There is another good reason to go see this.

The nation of Lebanon has banned this movie at all 15 locations it was supposed to open on.  Since they are still at war with Israel, they have banned this movie solely based on the fact that Gal Gadot is an Israeli and was formerly in the Israeli military.

Hahaha yes! Hopefully I can find some time and get in to see it opening weekend

I am traveling to Huntsville, AL for a day or two and will have to wait until next weekend.  I am going to be attending the 13th Annual Cigar Box Guitar Festival there.

I went and saw this tonight with my wifey.

I must say that we both enjoyed it immensely.  They did a great job of developing her character and showing us her origin.  You see her grow into her abilities as she hasn't exactly been brought up to know what she can do.  By the end of the movie, she is full on Wonder Woman and can fight, use that magic lasso, deflect bullets and bombs with those bracelets and shield, and even fly.  Sorry, they didn't give her the invisible jet.....yet.  I am guessing that this comes either in Justice League or Wonder Woman 2.

If they give as much care to the story of Justice League as they have Wonder Woman, then the DCEU will be in fine hands.

My wife and daughter went to the women only opening day last friday.
I am invited this friday to go with them as they re-watch.

They are trying so hard to not give spoilers but I can tell it's their favorite flick.

In Tennessee, a women's only showing would probably have been flooded by men who would have demanded they sell tickets to them as well.  In the age where you can't deny baking a cake for a homosexual wedding if you are Christian, this stinks of being sexist and should not be tolerated in my opinion.  I doubt I would support that theater in the future.

They had a women's only showing in Texas and apparently, did not get a lot of flak from the local community. This was at the Alamo Drafthouse. But then, places like Austin have gone full-on California/Oregon liberal.
