So I see that Guardian's Fire And Love is being reissued with a remastered version. Frankly, I struggle to comprehend how this album could possibly be made better. It is nearly flawless in quality. I feel the same way with Holy Soldier's Last Train. Are these albums really improved much by remastering now?

Agreed.  I'll eventually get the HS reissue to replace my old cassette, not because I need remaster.

While I didn't do the Guardian release, I did do a personal remaster of that album.  Remastering brought the volume up to a similar level of that of their remaining releases.  It brought out the bass more as well without making the recording muddy.  The drums also had more definition.  I am sure that the official release sounds even better than mine, but my version sounds pretty sweet!

I am sure there are some things that can be tweaked on them. Especially if an album is over 20 years old. As Alldat mentioned, a lot of them have the volume boosted to modern standards, which in turn probably brings out some of the softer elements that might have gone unnoticed. I for one would love to hear some of Randy Rose's older stuff remastered.

I have those redone in my own collection.  It didn't change much of anything on "Sacrificium" or "Into The Unknown".  They just got a little louder overall.  On "Healing", though, it makes a huge difference.  That album always sounded weaker as the guitars sound like they are using little pocket amps.  Changing the mastering there makes the album sound bigger (especially the guitars) and just packs more of a wallop.

Since sometimes re-issues are about hard to find albums, I wonder if Guardian and Holy Solider are hard to find? I don't know - I have owned them since they came out.

I did get the Guardian CD because I was hoping for a cleaned up sound. But then I heard the track on Headbangin' 101 part 3, and now I am concerned. Not a good mix on that sampler, so I hope the rest of the album came out sounding better. Guitars got pushed too far down the mix. I played bass myself, so I think one should be able to hear the bass in the mix, but the guitar is still the center of the sound. So I hope that was just a fluke on the sampler or something.

Really I have no idea. I never actively searched for Holy Soldier but bought it since I had never owned it. Looking forward to Fear Not as well. I have a burned copy someone made me but will order it when preorders go up. I do know that Last Train is free to Prime members on Amazon.

Consider that there are people out there that still doesn't have this cd.
And some would like to hear the boosted volume.

Some time in the future, I will have to buy another Last Train copy, as mine is from a brazilian release that has a simply awful sound. I will certainly choose a remastered edition then.

If people don't have it, then a reissue makes sense. What I'm talking about is the remastering of these albums. As for why your Brazilian release has bad sound, that's a mystery. The versions everyone else got back in the day were terrific. David Zaffiro is a terrific producer.

Seeing that both albums are have been out of print for many, many years, I would think that they are getting hard to find if you don't have them already.
